The Greater Taunton Clergy Association is a gathering of clergy from the Taunton, Massachusetts area. Our purpose is to promote the spiritual life of our community and engage the Taunton area in a positive way.
There are a number of events sponsored by the Clergy Association each year, including:
Martin Luther King Jr. Event
While this is technically the City of Taunton's official recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, under the auspices of the Mayor's Office, the Clergy Association organizes the service and provides the program.
Ecumenical Lenten Services
These services are held each Thursday during the season of Lent (with the exception of Holy Thursday) in a different church with a different preacher for each service. The evening begins with a pot luck supper at 6:30 PM and the service is held at 7:30 PM.
Good Friday Ecumenical Service
This one hour service is held each year at Noon on Good Friday at St. Thomas Episcopal Church on High Street in Taunton. A reading of the passion narrative is included in the service. A light lunch of clam chowder and hot cross buns follows the service.
Thanksgiving Service
An ecumenical Thanksgiving service is held each year, usually at the West Congregational Church in Taunton.
